AUFGRUND DER STEUERSENKUNG DER REGIERUNG UND EINFRIERUNG DER FLUGSICHERUNGSGEBÜHREN

Ryanair, Europas Fluggesellschaft Nr. 1, gab heute (Donnerstag, 15. Januar) bekannt, dass sie im Sommer 2026 300.000 Sitzplätze wieder einführen und 11 neue Strecken in ganz Deutschland aufnehmen wird, nachdem die deutsche Regierung die vernünftige Entscheidung getroffen hat, die überhöhte Luftverkehrssteuer ab Juli 2026 zu senken und die Flugsicherungsgebühren einzufrieren. Deutschland reiht sich damit in die wachsende Liste der EU-Länder ein, die  Luftverkehrssteuern senken, um das Verkehrswachstum anzukurbeln.

Dieser sinnvolle Kurswechsel der deutschen Regierung ermöglicht es Ryanair, einen Teil seiner Kapazitätskürzungen für den Sommer 2026 rückgängig zu machen. Von diesem Kapazitätswachstum profitieren die proaktiven deutschen Flughäfen, die mit Ryanair zusammengearbeitet haben, um Kosten zu senken, wie beispielsweise die Flughäfen Köln, Niederrhein, Memmingen und Bremen. Bedauerlicherweise werden die Kapazitäten an Flughäfen mit hohen Kosten wie Berlin (-5%) und Hamburg (-20%), die es ablehnen, ihre überhöhten und wettbewerbsunfähigen Flughafengebühren zu senken, weiter reduziert.

Die deutsche Regierung hat zwar einen begrüßenswerten ersten Schritt unternommen, um die überhöhten Zugangskosten anzugehen, doch Deutschland ist nach wie vor deutlich wettbewerbsunfähiger als Länder wie Schweden, Albanien, Ungarn, die Slowakei und Regional-Italien, in denen Luftverkehrssteuern abgeschafft wurden. Trotz der Wiedereinführung von 300.000 Sitzplätzen wird die Kapazität von Ryanair in Deutschland für 2026 aufgrund anhaltender Kapazitätskürzungen an kostenintensiven Flughäfen – wie Berlin und Hamburg – geringer sein als 2025.

Ryanair fordert die deutsche Regierung und Verkehrsminister Patrick Schieder auf, diese positive Dynamik fortzusetzen und die schädliche Luftverkehrssteuer vollständig abzuschaffen, die überhöhten Flugsicherungsgebühren zu senken, die ungerechtfertigten Sicherheitsgebühren zu reduzieren und wettbewerbsfähige Flughafengebühren sicherzustellen. Wenn diese wachstumsfördernden Reformen umgesetzt werden, ist Ryanair bereit, ihren ehrgeizigen Wachstumsplan umzusetzen, und ihr Passagieraufkommen in Deutschland auf 34 Millionen Passagiere pro Jahr zu verdoppeln, 30 zusätzliche Flugzeuge in Deutschland zu stationieren (Investition in Höhe von 3 Mrd. US-Dollar) und über 200 neue Strecken aufzunehmen. Dieser Wachstumsplan würde 1.000 zusätzliche hochbezahlte Arbeitsplätze in der Luftfahrt in ganz Deutschland schaffen.

Ryanairs CEO Eddie Wilson sagte:

„Wir begrüßen die Entscheidung der deutschen Regierung, die Luftverkehrssteuer ab Juli 2026 zu senken und zusätzlich die Flugsicherungsgebühren einzufrieren. Diese vernünftige Maßnahme hat es Ryanair ermöglicht, 300.000 Sitzplätze wieder einzuführen und 11 neue Strecken für den Sommer 2026 zu eröffnen, was den Verkehr, den Tourismus und die Beschäftigung in ganz Deutschland ankurbelt – insbesondere an Flughäfen wie Köln, Niederrhein, Memmingen und Bremen, die ihre Kosten gesenkt haben, um dringend benötigtes Verkehrswachstum zu sichern.

Trotz der heutigen Wiederaufnahme von 300.000 Sitzplätzen wird Ryanairs Kapazität in Deutschland für 2026 unter dem Niveau von 2025 liegen – aufgrund von Kürzungen an Flughäfen mit hohen Kosten (wie Berlin und Hamburg), die es ablehnen, ihre völlig wettbewerbsunfähigen Gebühren zu senken.

Die Senkung der Luftverkehrssteuer und Einfrierung der Flugsicherungsgebühren geht in die richtige Richtung, aber wenn die deutsche Regierung und Verkehrsminister Patrick Schieder weiter gehen und diese wachstumshemmende Steuer vollständig abschaffen, die Sicherheitsgebühren senken und die Flugsicherungs- und Flughafengebühren reduzieren, wird Ryanair darauf reagieren, indem es ihr jährliches Passagieraufkommen in Deutschland auf 34 Millionen Passagiere verdoppelt, 30 zusätzliche Flugzeuge in Deutschland stationiert und über 1.000 neue Arbeitsplätze in Deutschland schafft. Bis dahin werden Deutschlands größte Städte wie Berlin und Hamburg weiterhin Passagiere an wettbewerbsfähigere Flughäfen in ganz Europa verlieren.”

WHILE HUNGARY, ITALY, SLOVAKIA AND SWEDEN SCRAP TAXES, SILLY BELGIUM RAISES TAXES (5-FOLD!!) & LOSES TRAFFIC/JOBS

Ryanair, Europe’s largest airline, today (Wed, 14 Jan) revised its Brussels 2026 schedules by reducing the number of seats on offer at Charleroi by 1.1m in 2026, with a further planned 1.1m seat cuts in 2027, as Charleroi City Council announces plans for a €3 tax per pax departing Charleroi from April 2026, and the silly Belgium Govt announces a 5-fold increase in pax taxes from €2 in Jan 2025 to €10 in Jan 2027 (at a time when Mario Draghi is calling on Europe to be more competitive). These tax increases are silly when other EU countries including Sweden, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy and Albania, have abolished Aviation Taxes to grow traffic, tourism and jobs. Belgium’s tax rises will now send traffic and jobs to other, more competitive, EU countries.

Ryanair calls on Prime Minister De Wever to reverse these silly tax rises, which will damage Belgium’s competitiveness, and cost Belgium millions of passengers, thousands of flights, and thousands of jobs in tourism and support industries. While almost every other EU country is abolishing Aviation Taxes, it makes no sense for Belgium to increase pax taxes 5-fold, when these taxes have failed in every other EU State. Ryanair, which is Belgium’s largest airline, carrying 11.6m passengers to/from Belgium in 2025, will now cut this figure to (10.6m) in 2026 (if Charleroi Council goes ahead with its €3 tax plan) and will cut further to 9.6m passengers in 2027, if the Belgium Govt doesn’t reverse this idiotic 5-fold increase in pax taxes. The competitiveness of European Aviation is already being damaged by Europe’s mad ETS tax scheme, which taxes only intra-EU flights, while exempting all non-EU flights, and Belgian citizens/visitors cannot be asked to pay even more of these unfair and damaging taxes.

As many other European States have shown, taxing air travel loses traffic, routes and jobs. If the Belgium economy really wants to grow, then the Govt needs to scrap these silly travel taxes, and allow low-fare airlines – led by Ryanair – to return to growth in Zaventem and in Charleroi, instead of cutting over 2m seats, which is what we now plan to do over the next 2 years.

Ryanair’s CEO Michael O’Leary said:

“Only the Belgium Govt could be so silly to raise Aviation Taxes five-fold, at a time when Sweden, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia and Albania are abolishing their Aviation Taxes. These taxes have failed, and have damaged air travel and tourism in many EU countries, which is why they are being scrapped. In Belgium however, the De Wever Govt seems determined to fail, while others are succeeding. Having enjoyed Ryanair’s low fare growth at Charleroi and Zaventem Airport over the last 20 years, the Govt has now decided to raise aviation Taxes (by 5-fold!!) at a time, when almost all other EU States are abolishing them.

What these silly politicians don’t understand is that aircraft and passengers are mobile. If Belgium wants to tax passengers, then they simply switch to lower cost, non-tax, destinations, like Sweden, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia and Albania. Belgium’s loss will be to the gain of these lower cost, tax-cutting States.

When the Draghi Report has called on Europe to become more competitive, the De Wever Govt seems determined to make Belgium even less competitive. Raising taxes will deliver fewer flights, less passengers, less tourism, and cost thousands of jobs at both, Zaventem and Charleroi Airports. The solution to this challenge is easy: Scrap these damaging aviation taxes (as many other EU States have), and allow Ryanair to continue to grow, especially at Charleroi, where over the last 20 years, Ryanair has grown to be Belgium’s largest airline. This growth can easily be lost to tax abolishing countries like Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia and Italy, and if Charleroi and Belgium don’t reverse these taxes, then Ryanair will cut 1.1m pax in 2026 and another 1.1m in 2027, and we will keep cutting until Belgium’s silly Govt works out that taxing traffic is not the way to grow tourism/jobs, it simply sends them to other lower cost, zero-tax, competitor destinations elsewhere in Europe.”

Ryanair, the UK’s No.1 low fares airline, today (Tues, 13 Jan) called on NATS CEO, Martin Rolfe, to resign following yet another NATS ATC system failure – this time at Birmingham Airport on Sun (11 Jan) – which caused several diversions and delays of up to 4 hours for 2,000 Ryanair passengers.

This latest outage is yet another example of NATS’ continued mismanagement. UK airspace users are paying higher charges for a declining service, while passengers are subjected to repeated and entirely avoidable delays. Martin Rolfe must immediately fix the UK’s broken ATC service, or step aside and let someone else do the job.

Ryanair’s Jade Kirwan said:

“It is unacceptable that 2,000 Ryanair passengers were made suffer delays of up to 4 hours, as well as several diversions, on Sunday (11 Jan), due to yet another NATS ATC system failure – this time at Birmingham Airport. There is a clear pattern of repeated NATS mismanagement and NATS disruption – all of which is happening under the watch of NATS CEO, Martin Rolfe. This level of incompetence would not be tolerated in any other critical infrastructure. Martin Rolfe is clearly out of his depth and should resign immediately, and allow someone else to fix NATS’ failing systems and deliver the reliable ATC service that Ryanair passengers deserve.”

LA CATTIVA GESTIONE DEI FORNITORI DEI SERVIZI DEL CONTROLLO DEL TRAFFICO AEREO NEGA LA LIBERTÀ DI MOVIMENTO AI CITTADINI DELL’UE

Ryanair, la compagnia aerea n.1 in Europa, ha pubblicato oggi (giovedì 8 gennaio) la classifica dei “GRINCH” del controllo del traffico aereo (ATC) che hanno rovinato i viaggi di Natale a oltre 600.000 passeggeri Ryanair durante il periodo delle festività.

La pubblicazione arriva dopo che oltre 3.200 voli Ryanair e 600.000 passeggeri hanno subito ritardi ATC evitabili nel periodo natalizio (22–31 dicembre) a causa della carenza di personale ATC. Spagna e Francia sono risultate di gran lunga i peggiori fornitori di servizi di controllo del traffico aereo durante questo Natale, rappresentando rispettivamente il 34% e il 31% dei ritardi.

Un volume così eccessivo di ritardi ATC in uno dei fine settimana di viaggio più affollati dell’anno — durante il quale molti passeggeri viaggiano con famiglie e bambini piccoli — è inaccettabile.

Ryanair ha più volte chiesto una riforma del controllo del traffico aereo (ATC) dell’UE, ma Ursula von “Derlayed-Again” continua a ignorare questi ritardi e cancellazioni ATC, che limitano la libertà di movimento dei cittadini europei semplicemente a causa dell’incapacità dei fornitori ATC di pianificare un numero adeguato di controllori di volo. Ryanair invita tutti i passeggeri dell’UE a visitare la pagina web “Air Traffic Control Ruined Your Flight” e a chiedere a Ursula von “Derlayed-Again” di intervenire con urgenza per riformare i servizi ATC europei, ormai inefficienti, al fine di ridurre al minimo i ritardi per i cittadini dell’UE.

L’Amministratore Delegato di Ryanair, Eddie Wilson, ha dichiarato:

«È inaccettabile che 600.000 passeggeri abbiano subito questo Natale ritardi ATC evitabili a causa della carenza di personale nei centri di controllo del traffico aereo in Spagna, Francia, Portogallo e Germania, con Spagna e Francia in testa alla lista dei “Grinch” dell’ATC. I passeggeri dovrebbero poter viaggiare in tutta Europa senza dover subire ore di ritardi e cancellazioni ATC del tutto inutili.

Quando Ursula von “Derlayed-Again” e la Commissione europea smetteranno di restare con le mani in mano e attueranno una vera riforma dell’ATC per proteggere i passeggeri da questi ritardi completamente evitabili? Ryanair chiede da tempo una riforma urgente, eppure l’UE continua a permettere che queste interruzioni si ripetano anno dopo anno, soprattutto nei periodi di picco dei viaggi.
