RYANAIR DOUBLES TRAFFIC AT SARAJEVO FOR SUMMER 2025

Ryanair, Europe and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s No.1 airline today (9th January) launched its record Summer 2025 schedule for Sarajevo, with over 50 weekly flights across 11 routes, including 5 exciting new destinations – Baden-Baden, Düsseldorf, Girona, Paris, and Stockholm.

Ryanair’s Sarajevo Summer 2025 schedule will deliver:

  • 5 new routes – Baden-Baden, Düsseldorf, Girona, Paris, and Stockholm.
  • 11 total routes to 8 countries.
  • 400K passengers p.a. (+170% vs 2024).
  • Supporting over 300 local jobs.

The key to air traffic recovery and growth is lower access costs. Ryanair’s decision to double traffic at Sarajevo is a direct result of the progressive policies of both Sarajevo Airport and the Sarajevo Canton to reduce access cost and underpinning this major boost to Sarajevo’s year-round connectivity, tourism, and economic growth. Countries, regions, and airports across Europe recognise that competitive access costs are the catalyst to attracting inbound investment – particularly against a backdrop of aircraft delivery delays and a market which remains unrecovered versus pre-Covid.

If Sarajevo Airport wants to continue to attract investment from Ryanair, including the potential for based aircraft, it must remain competitive versus the likes of Albania, Hungary, Italy, and Sweden, etc. all of whom are abolishing aviation taxes and lowering access costs to secure valuable traffic growth. Ryanair calls on the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina to reverse its decision to reintroduce aviation taxes to support the continued growth of the country’s aviation and tourism sector – in addition to ensuring its citizens have access to Europe’s lowest fares.

To celebrate its Sarajevo Summer 2025 schedule and 5 new routes (11 in total), Ryanair has announced a 3-day seat sale, with fares starting from just €29.99, available exclusively at ryanair.com.

Speaking from Sarajevo, Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer, Jason McGuinness said:

“Ryanair, Europe and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s No.1 airline, is pleased to announce its biggest ever Summer schedule for 2025, which will see Ryanair double its traffic at Sarajevo across 11 routes to 8 countries, including 5 brand-new destinations – Baden-Baden, Düsseldorf, Girona, Paris, and Stockholm. This growth is a result of the work undertaken by both Sarajevo Airport and the Sarajevo Canton to support tourism and economic growth by lowering access costs.

This Summer, we expect that European capacity will return or approach pre-Covid levels. The market however remains chronically underserved, particularly for cities like Sarajevo who have enormous touristic and economic potential. Capacity will continue to be constrained over the coming years as many airlines have failed to recover to their pre-Covid levels and aircraft manufacturers struggle to keep up with demand. Countries, regions, and airports across Europe recognise this and understand that competitive access costs are the catalyst to attracting inbound investment.

If Sarajevo Airport wants to continue attracting Ryanair investment, including a potential base, it must remain competitive versus Albania, Hungary, Italy, and Sweden, etc. all of whom are abolishing aviation taxes and lowering access costs to secure valuable traffic growth. Ryanair calls on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Government to reverse its decision to reintroduce aviation taxes to support the continued growth of the country’s aviation and tourism sector.”

Sarajevo International Airport’s Director, Sanin Ramezić, said:

“We are extremely proud to continue our successful cooperation with Ryanair, the largest low-cost European airline. The launch of new routes in 2025 will further connect Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina with numerous attractive destinations across Europe. This collaboration not only expands our flight network but also provides a strong boost to tourism development, enhances business cooperation, and strengthens cultural ties.

We are entering the new business year with great enthusiasm and ambition to break records and achieve the best results, and Ryanair remains our key partner in achieving these goals.”
