RYANAIR JULY SURVEY SHOWS OTAS (EDREAMS, TIX & VOLA) STILL OVERCHARGING – BY UP TO 88% OVER RYANAIR PRICES

Ryanair today (Tue, 8 July) released its July OTA Survey, which again exposes unauthorised OTAs, eDreams, Tix & Vola who continue to harm consumers by inflating prices by up to 88% over Ryanair’s website prices. These non-approved OTAs continue to overcharge consumers with Tix being the biggest offender, charging €16.85 for a reserved seat that costs just €9.00 on Ryanair.com – an overcharge of over 88%.

Ryanair continues its campaign to defend consumers against the harmful and unjustified overcharging by non-approved OTAs such as eDreams, Tix and Vola. We again call on EU Govts, Consumer Ministers, and Protection Authorities to take urgent action to enforce pricing transparency on all OTAs, with the same clear and upfront pricing standards followed by Ryanair’s Approved OTA partners.

Despite repeated warnings, many of Europe’s Consumer Ministers and Agencies do nothing to protect consumers from this harmful overcharging. eDreams for example continue to impose unjustified overcharges on its Spanish customers without any consequence, because Spain’s useless Consumer Minister, Pablo Bustinduy, won’t take any action to protect Spanish consumers from this OTA overcharging.

Ryanair’s Dara Brady said:

“Our July survey confirms that non-approved OTAs like eDreams, Tix and Vola continue to harm unsuspecting consumers with unjustified overcharges, with Tix leading the way with an outrageous 88% overcharge above Ryanair prices. Yet, EU Govts and Consumer Protection Authorities, particularly Spain’s ineffective Consumer Minister Bustinduy, do nothing to address this blatant and harmful consumer overcharging.

Despite repeated warnings, they continue to turn a blind eye while these overcharges will cause consumers real financial harm, especially in Spain, where eDreams, a major overcharger, has a significant market share.

We call on all EU Govts and Consumer Protection Authorities to urgently outlaw these OTA overcharges and take action to protect consumers from harmful, overcharging OTAs, like eDreams, Tix and Vola.”
