RYANAIR WELCOMES IAA’S CUTS TO DAA’S EXCESSIVE FEES
RYANAIR PLANS 2M SEATS GROWTH IN 2027 IF DRAFT IAA PROPOSALS ARE APPROVED
Ryanair, Ireland’s No. 1 airline, today (14 July) welcomed the independent IAA’s (Aviation Regulator) draft recommendation to cut Dublin Airport’s high airport fees by 15% from Summer ‘27. The independent IAA’s proposal supports the Dublin airlines’ position that the wasteful DAA monopoly must reduce its high airport fees to stimulate traffic growth, rather than hiking charges so the DAA can waste €5.6 billion on unnecessary gold-plated facilities which are not needed and add no significant passenger capacity at Dublin Airport.
Ryanair’s Eddie Wilson said:
“Lower airport charges are key to attracting airlines to invest in new routes, stimulate traffic growth, improve connectivity and maximise economic benefits for the all-island economy, where Dublin Airport is the main gateway. Ryanair calls on the IAA in its final decision to go further and reject in full the DAA’s daft €5.6 billion “waste” plan (which includes an absurd provision for over €1.5 billion for “inflation” and “contingencies”), which is designed to inflate the DAA’s already high airport fees to boost its monopoly profits. Only low-cost, efficient investments at Dublin Airport should be allowed by the Regulator, which is why Ryanair and other airlines welcome the IAA’s proposal to cut Dublin Airport’s high fees.
If the independent IAA Regulator implements these proposed 15% cuts to Dublin Airport fees, then Ryanair will respond with a record Summer ‘27 schedule, adding up to 2m more low-fare seats and 3 new based aircraft for Summer ‘27, making Dublin the first airport to receive Ryanair’s new Boeing 737 MAX-10 aircraft, which are 50% quieter, burn 20% less fuel and carry 20% more passengers per flight. This transformative investment will grow new routes and jobs in Dublin, boost inbound tourism and trade, and deliver significant economic growth for Ireland.”
