We are delighted to announce a $200 million investment at Ryanair’s fourth French base in Paris Beauvais Airport. This development will create over 2,300 direct and indirect jobs at a time when other airlines, including Air France retrench and reduce capacity and investment, despite receiving €7bn in discriminatory State Aid.

We are also pleased to announce the launch of our Paris Beauvais winter schedule, with 32 routes in total, including two new services to Paphos & Manchester (both twice weekly) and connections to exciting business and leisure destinations such as Barcelona, Milan, Faro and Thessaloniki.

We are delighted to conclude this long term investment with Paris Beauvais, who continue to work to deliver efficient operations and competitive airport charges, which offers the means for traffic growth and new routes at Ryanair’s fourth French base.

To celebrate, we are releasing seats for sale from €9.99 for travel in October & November, available until midnight on Friday (25 Sept). Since these amazing low fares will be snapped up quickly, customers should log onto www.ryanair.com to avoid missing out.”

François Rubichon, Paris Beauvais Airport’s Chairman of the board, said:

“Paris-Beauvais airport is delighted for this achievement and to see such a mark of confidence from our first airline partner, the leading European carrier, Ryanair.

Our historic relationship has been strengthened and is now evolving to a new dimension with this operational base, its jobs and the potential developments it will allow, especially in such challenging times for air transport.

Finally, Paris-Beauvais airport is the first base announced by Ryanair in Europe since the beginning of the crisis and materializes the hard work carried out for several months between SAGEB and Ryanair teams. All the employees and partners are looking forward to welcome the first 2 aircraft and its crews on the 3rd December 2020″.

Ryanair Cuts Capacity In October By Another 20% As Failed Irish And EU Govt Travel Restrictions Damage Bookings

18 Sep 2020

Calls On Transport Minister Ryan To Finally Take Action

Ryanair, Europe’s largest airline, today (Fri 18th Sept) announced that it would cut its October capacity by a further 20% (in addition to the 20% cut already announced in mid-August). Ryanair now expects its Oct capacity to fall from 50% to approx. 40% of its Oct 2019 levels, but expects to maintain a 70%+ load factor at this reduced schedule.

Ryanair confirmed that these capacity reductions were necessary due to damage caused to forward bookings by continuous changes in EU Government travel restrictions and policies, many of which are introduced at short notice, which undermine consumers’ willingness to make forward bookings. In some countries (most notably Ireland), where the Govt have maintained excessive and defective travel restrictions since 1 July, Covid-19 rates have risen in recent weeks to 50 per 100,000 pop. – more than double those of Germany and Italy – where intra-EU air travel was freely permitted since 1 July.

Ryanair welcomes the EU Commission’s plan to remove intra-EU travel restrictions, subject only to the ECDC weekly update on Covid case / positive test trend rates by EU country and region, and calls for this coordinated approach to be immediately implemented by all EU States, especially Ireland, so that EU citizens can make essential bookings for business and family travel, free from the worry of flight cancellations and/or defective quarantine restrictions.

A Ryanair Spokesperson said:

“We are disappointed to reduce our Oct capacity from 50% of 2019 to 40%. However, as customer confidence is damaged by Government mismanagement of Covid travel policies, many Ryanair customers are unable to travel for business or urgent family reasons without being subjected to defective 14 day quarantines.

While it is too early yet to make final decisions on our winter schedule (from Nov to Mar), if current trends and EU Governments’ mismanagement of the return of air travel and normal economic activity continue, then similar capacity cuts may be required across the winter period.

We call on Transport Minister Eamon Ryan to explain why over 2 months later he still hasn’t implemented any of the 14 recommendations of the Governments Aviation Task Force which were submitted to Government on 7 July last. He should also explain why NPHET has kept Ireland locked up like North Korea since 1 July, while at the same time Italy and Germany removed all intra-EU travel restrictions and have delivered Covid case rates which are less than half the rate, which NPHET has presided over in Ireland. Intra EU air travel is not the problem and these defective travel bans are not a solution.”

Malta Air Launches Partnership With Local Charity Puttinu Cares

09 Sep 2020

Malta Air, today (09 Sept) have launched its local charity partnership with Puttinu Cares, supporting Maltese families of children requiring cancer treatment abroad by providing accommodation for family members travelling with the children.

Puttinu Cares – Chosen Maltese Charity Partner – aim is to support family members of children who need to go abroad to pursue any kind of further treatment. Puttinu Cares is there for all accommodation requirements for the accompanying family, facilitating a home away from home. This alleviates a huge burden, since when a child gets sick parents don’t have to shoulder the expense of accommodation to be able to stay with their child in hospital and care for them in between stays.

Malta Air CEO Diarmuid O’Conghaile said:

“We are proud to announce our partnership with such an important local charity, Puttinu Cares, and we are pleased to be associated with the important work they do. Malta Air is up and running now for over a year and we have become a member of the community here in Malta. Our partnership with this local charity is part of that.

Throughout the networks of Malta Air and the Ryanair group, our customers donate to charity through purchasing our in-flight scratch cards, and Puttinu Cares is one example of a charity that benefits from these donations. We look forward to continuing to work with Puttinu Cares in the coming years.”

Dr Andrew Decelis of Puttinu Cares said:

“Thank you for your contribution which will help us continue to support an increasing number of families and children who are passing through very difficult times.  We rely heavily on donations such as these in order to live up to our mission”.

Charles Pace, Director General of TM CAD, said:

‘I am happy to have made the introduction between Malta Air and Puttinu Cares, and that the local community will benefit from the charitable donation. I thank Malta Air management for its support and look forward to the continuation of this initiative.’
