MAYOR CAPACIDAD EN BARCELONA, CRECIMIENTO LIMITADO EN REUS Y CAÍDA DE TRÁFICO EN GIRONA POR EL FALLIDO SISTEMA DE TASAS DE AENA

Ryanair, la aerolínea nº1 de España, ha anunciado hoy (5 marzo) su programación de verano 2026 para Cataluña, que solo presentará un modesto crecimiento en los aeropuertos de Barcelona (+2%) y Reus (+6%) como consecuencia de la estructura de precios monopolística de Aena.

Ryanair continuará creciendo en Barcelona, donde operará 62 rutas este verano, incluyendo una nueva conexión con Bratislava (con operativa diaria), y más de 590 frecuencias semanales, un aumento del 2% respecto al año pasado. Los vuelos adicionales se añadirán en 22 rutas existentes, incluyendo destinos populares como Mánchester, Oporto o Milán, reforzando las operaciones y ofreciendo a los ciudadanos y visitantes de Barcelona más opciones con las tarifas más bajas de Europa.

Mientras, el crecimiento de capacidad será limitado en Reus y Girona, donde las excesivas tasas de Aena están perjudicando la competitividad de las regiones. En Reus, Ryanair operará 12 rutas a 5 países y 70 vuelos semanales desde marzo de 2026, añadiendo vuelos adicionales a Reino Unido e Irlanda durante los meses de alta actividad en verano. Sin embargo, la capacidad de abordar la estacionalidad en la Costa Daurada está siendo bloqueada por las tarifas poco competitivas de Aena y su falta de voluntad para estimular el crecimiento en temporada baja. En Girona, Ryanair ofrecerá 34 rutas a 13 países, incluyendo una nueva ruta a Bucarest, y hasta 160 vuelos semanales. Sin embargo, la capacidad de Girona lamentablemente descenderá este verano por primera vez desde el período pre-Covid debido a la determinación de Aena de dejar a las regiones de lado.

Ryanair sigue dispuesta a crecer en Girona y Reus siempre que los costes sean menores y más competitivos. En 2024, Ryanair se reunió con el presidente Sánchez y el ministro Puente, y presentó un plan de crecimiento que habría supuesto un 5º avión con base en Girona y un crecimiento sin precedentes del 42%; además de una nueva base en Reus que habría incrementado la capacidad de asientos en un 67% en 2026. Sin embargo, dos años después, Aena ha aumentado las tasas un 10% y propone una subida adicional del 21% para 2031.

Mientras Ryanair continúa creciendo en los aeropuertos principales, el sector turístico español en su conjunto se encuentra en una encrucijada. El país necesita instalaciones con costes bajos de acceso y precios competitivos para atraer el crecimiento de las aerolíneas, pero Aena sigue imponiendo tarifas excesivas e infraestructuras premium que perjudican la competitividad de España, especialmente en las regiones. Ryanair rechaza estas políticas enormemente perjudiciales e insta a la CNMC y al Ministerio de Transportes a rechazar la propuesta de Aena para el DORA III, y proteger así la conectividad, el turismo y el empleo en España.

Girona y Reus nunca han estado mejor posicionadas para hacer realidad esto, ya que el Gobierno regional de Cataluña, el Gobierno nacional de España y Aena están políticamente alineados bajo el mismo partido. Esta alineación sin precedentes elimina las excusas institucionales para la inacción y crea una ventana única para tomar decisiones largamente postergadas.

“La programación de verano 2026 de Ryanair en Cataluña incluirá dos nuevas rutas, Barcelona-Bratislava y Girona-Bucarest, así como mayor capacidad en Barcelona y Reus. Nuestra apuesta por Barcelona sigue siendo firme, donde seguiremos creciendo, aunque a ritmos más moderados hasta que se expanda el aeropuerto. Sin embargo, aunque Ryanair desea crecer también en los aeropuertos regionales catalanes, el fallido sistema de tasas de Aena está perjudicando el potencial de Reus para crecer en temporada baja e impactando en la capacidad de Girona, que descenderá este verano por primera vez desde el período pre-Covid.

Ryanair tenía ambiciosos planes de crecimiento para los aeropuertos regionales de Cataluña, donde podría haber colocado un 5º avión en Girona, una nueva base en Reus y un crecimiento sin precedentes en ambos aeropuertos en condiciones competitivas, beneficiosas para todas las aerolíneas — sin embargo, aún estamos esperando una respuesta del Gobierno español, que no tiene ningún plan para arreglar un sistema que sigue llenando los bolsillos de Aena mientras vacía los aeropuertos regionales. Ryanair insta una vez más a la CNMC y al Ministerio de Transportes a rechazar las subidas de precios de Aena — que arruinarán la conectividad regional de España — y a reducir las tasas aeroportuarias para atraer la inversión y el crecimiento de las aerolíneas en todo el país.”

Ryanair has operated to/from Apulia for the past 22 years, carrying over 60 million passengers to date and aims to continue invest and grow traffic in Apulia region and Italy. Ryanair hoy (miércoles, 4 de marzo) acogió con satisfacción la orden del Tribunal Superior de Irlanda que registra compromisos vinculantes dados por eDreams, los cuales exigen a la OTA española que cese todo acceso directo e indirecto a los sistemas de reservas “Travel Agent Direct” (TAD) de Ryanair y que tome medidas inmediatas para impedir y evitar que cualquier contratista lo haga.

En virtud de la orden del Tribunal Superior, eDreams ha acordado que dejará de acceder al sistema de reservas TAD de Ryanair, dejará de utilizar a terceros para acceder a él en su nombre y tomará medidas inmediatas para cerrar cualquier actividad si se produce. Esto sigue a la acción de Ryanair la semana pasada para bloquear el último intento de eDreams de vender vuelos de Ryanair conspirando con terceros para acceder ilegalmente a las tarifas de Ryanair y venderlas incorrectamente al violar su sistema TAD.

Estos acontecimientos se producen en un contexto de reiteradas conclusiones de los tribunales y reguladores europeos de que eDreams lleva a cabo prácticas comerciales “tramposas”, “engañosas” y “manipuladoras”.  El Tribunal Regional de Hamburgo confirmó recientemente que las indicaciones de precios de eDreams son “engañosas”, que no se podían lograr sus “ahorros” Prime anunciados y que eDreams había incumplido órdenes judiciales existentes, lo que resultó en multas adicionales. En Italia, la AGCM ha multado a eDreams con 9 millones de euros, dictaminando que su esquema Prime es “engañoso” y “manipulador”, con los consumidores “en casi todos los casos” viendo en pantalla precios Prime más altos que los no suscriptores y sujetos a “descuentos” discriminatorios. Los documentos internos de eDreams abogaban por el uso de la “psicología inversa” para impulsar las suscripciones.

Mientras que las OTA transparentes como Booking.com, Lastminute y Kiwi ya han adoptado los estándares de transparencia de precios de Ryanair, eDreams sigue rechazándolos, porque tales estándares evitarían que “engañe” a los consumidores. Ryanair ha ofrecido repetidamente a eDreams acceso directo y gratuito a la API de sus tarifas si adopta los mismos estándares de transparencia que todos los socios OTA de Ryanair aprobados una oferta que eDreams sigue ignorando.

Ryanair today (Wed, 4 Mar) welcomed the Irish High Court’s order recording binding undertakings given by eDreams, which require the Spanish OTA to cease all direct and indirect access to Ryanair’s “Travel Agent Direct” (TAD) booking systems and to take immediate steps to prevent and stop any contractor from doing so.

Under the High Court Order, eDreams has agreed it will stop accessing Ryanair’s TAD booking system, stop using third parties to access it on its behalf, and take immediate steps to shut down any activity if it occurs. This follows Ryanair’s action last week to block eDreams’ latest attempt to sell Ryanair flights by conspiring with third parties to unlawfully access Ryanair fares and mis-sell them by breaching it’s TAD system

These developments come against a backdrop of repeated findings by European Courts and Regulators that eDreams engages in “misleading”, “deceptive” and “manipulative” commercial practices.  The Hamburg Regional Court recently confirmed that eDreams’ price displays are “misleading”, that its advertised Prime “savings” could not be achieved, and that eDreams had breached an existing court order, resulting in a further fine. In Italy, the AGCM has fined eDreams €9m, ruling that its Prime scheme is “misleading” and “manipulative”, with consumers “in almost all cases” shown higher Prime prices than non‑subscribers and subjected to discriminatory “discounts”. Internal eDreams documents advocated using “reverse psychology” to drive subscriptions.

While transparent OTAs such as Booking.com, Lastminute and Kiwi have already adopted Ryanair’s price‑transparency standards, eDreams continues to refuse, because such standards would prevent it from “misleading” consumers. Ryanair has repeatedly offered eDreams free, direct API access to its fares if it adopts the same transparency standards as all approved Ryanair OTA partners – an offer eDreams continues to ignore.

Ryanair’s CMO, Dara Brady, said:

“Today’s High Court Order is a welcome development that prevents eDreams from unlawfully accessing Ryanair’s TAD booking systems. Ryanair will continue to take action to protect consumers from overcharging and from the misleading practices of screenscraping OTAs such as eDreams.

Our priority remains, ensuring passengers benefit from Ryanair’s industry‑leading transparency standards, as delivered by our approved OTA partners, and that they receive the full, direct service they are entitled to when booking Ryanair flights.”

„Bardzo się cieszymy, że Ryanair zapowiada dalszy rozwój bazy na krakowskim lotnisku. W ubiegłym roku z naszego lotniska skorzystało 7 053 404 pasażerów lecących irlandzkimi liniami. Najczęściej wybieranymi kierunkami były Włochy, Wielka Brytania, Hiszpania, Irlandia i Grecja.  Zapowiedziane dzisiaj nowości na lato 2026 pozwolą pasażerom odwiedzić Amman, Bukareszt i Sofię, które dotychczas dostępne były jedynie w sezonie zimowym, a także Budapeszt – stolicę Węgier słynącą z malowniczych nadbrzeży Dunaju, zabytkowych kąpielisk termalnych i imponującej architektury. Z niecierpliwością czekamy na sezon letni, który rozpoczyna się już 29 marca”.
