RYANAIR ANNOUNCES BIGGEST EVER BOURNEMOUTH SCHEDULE FOR SUMMER ‘23

RYANAIR ANNOUNCES BIGGEST EVER BOURNEMOUTH SCHEDULE FOR SUMMER ‘23

ONE EXTRA BASED AIRCRAFT (2 TOTAL, $200M INVESTMENT) & 3 NEW ROUTES (18 TOTAL)

Ryanair, Europe’s no. 1 airline, today (8 Dec) announced its biggest ever Bournemouth schedule with 18 routes, incl. 3 exciting new routes to Carcassonne, Edinburgh and Venice, for Summer ‘23. This unrivalled growth (+30% vs S‘22) is underpinned by the addition of a 2nd based aircraft, representing a $200m investment for the southern region and supporting over 550 local jobs.

Ryanair’s Bournemouth Summer ‘23 schedule will deliver:

– 1 new based aircraft (2 total)

– $200m investment

– 18 total routes incl. 3 new routes to Carcassonne, Edinburgh & Venice

– Increased frequencies on 4 routes – Alicante, Faro, Girona & Palma

– 120 weekly flights (+30% vs S’22 & +37% vs S’19)

– Supporting over 550 jobs, incl. 60 direct jobs

While other airlines cancelled thousands of UK flights this summer, Ryanair prevailed as the UK’s most reliable and no. 1 low fare airline, operating over 3,000 daily flights, and giving UK holidaymakers’ confidence in air travel – despite the ongoing Brexit blunder and lack of Govt support.

Although Ryanair welcomes the UK Govt’s 50% APD cut for domestic travel from April ‘23, this reduction ignores the need to develop international connectivity which is fundamental for the growth of the UK economy and tourism. Ryanair calls on Prime Minister Sunak to fully abolish APD immediately for all travel, which would not only promote tourism but support much needed connectivity to the UK, an island-based economy.

To celebrate its new Bournemouth schedule, Ryanair is launching a limited-time seat sale with fares from just £29.99 for travel from 1 Apr ‘23 until end of Oct ‘23, which must be booked by midnight 10th Dec on www.ryanair.com

Speaking from Bournemouth Airport this morning, Ryanair DAC CEO, Eddie Wilson, said:

“As the UK’s most reliable airline, Ryanair is delighted to announce even more growth with the addition of a 2nd based aircraft ($200m investment) and our biggest ever schedule for Bournemouth – offering 120 weekly flights on 18 routes, incl. our exciting new routes to Carcassonne, Edinburgh and Venice for Summer ‘23. With such a vast selection of sunny hotspots and city break destinations to choose from, UK holidaymakers can start booking their low fare summer holidays now on Ryanair.com.

Ryanair is driving the UK’s economic recovery through our delivery of year-round tourism, regional investment and job creation. However, if UK tourism is to continue to grow, especially in regional UK locations like Bournemouth, the Govt should immediately scrap APD in full for all travel and provide incentives for airlines, like Ryanair, to stimulate growth and recovery for the UK (an island-based economy) and its regions.”

Steve Gill, managing director of Bournemouth Airport, said:

“This is fantastic news for our passengers and offers even more choice from their local airport. We’re on course to have recovered 95% of our pre-pandemic traffic by the end of this year having served 800,000 passengers and Ryanair has been a huge part of that. With new routes to Carcassonne, Edinburgh and Venice, 30% more weekly flights next summer and 18 routes in total, this is a huge vote of confidence by Ryanair in Bournemouth Airport.”
