RYANAIR ANNOUNCES BIGGEST EVER WINTER SCHEDULE IN FINLAND 16 ROUTES (4 NEW), 30% CAPACITY GROWTH & 850,000 PASSENGERS P.A.

Ryanair, Europe’s no. 1 airline, has today (Friday, 22 Aug) announced its biggest-ever Winter schedule in Finland, with 16 routes in total, including four exciting new routes from Rovaniemi to Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, and Shannon, supporting over 600 local jobs and reinforcing Ryanair’s commitment to delivering growth, connectivity, and low fares to Finnish citizens/visitors.

Ryanair’s Finland Winter ‘25 schedule will deliver:

  • 16 routes in total
  • 4 new routes from Rovaniemi to Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, and Shannon
  • Over 120 flights per week
  • 850,000 passengers p.a.
  • Support over 600 jobs

Finland’s aviation sector has yet to recover to pre-Covid capacity, a situation similar to Sweden’s. However, Sweden took measures to support recovery by reducing access costs for airlines, and Ryanair immediately responded by basing local aircraft, creating jobs, launching new routes, and adding millions of low-fare seats. Ryanair calls on the Finnish Government to cut airport charges to pre-Covid levels, introduce a traffic recovery support scheme, and abolish the Traficom levy—measures that can be funded by scrapping wasteful PSOs that subsidise only a handful of flights. Finland is only 76% recovered post-Covid and lowering its access cost would activate Ryanair’s Finland-wide growth plan, delivering over 3 million passengers p.a.—four times today’s traffic—supported by a US$300m investment in a new 3-aircraft base at Helsinki, an expanded network of 50+ routes, and three new airports.

To celebrate Ryanair’s Winter 2025 schedule in Finland and this continued growth, Ryanair has launched a 3-day seat sale with fares from just €29.99, only at ryanair.com.

Ryanair’s CEO Eddie Wilson said:

“Ryanair is pleased to announce our biggest-ever Winter schedule in Finland, with 16 routes, including 4 exciting new from Rovaniemi to Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, and Shannon, delivering over 120 weekly flights and supporting over 600 local jobs. This record Winter ’25 schedule underlines Ryanair’s long-term commitment to Finland and our ambition to drive year-round connectivity, inbound tourism, and regional development.

Looking ahead, Ryanair is ready to deliver even greater growth, with the ambition to carry over 3 million passengers p.a. by 2030, four times current traffic levels. This would be supported by a US$300M investment by Ryanair in a new 3-aircraft base in Helsinki, expansion to 50+ routes (including new domestic services), and flights to new airports such as Ivalo, Kittilä, and Turku. However, unlocking this growth requires immediate action from the Finnish Government to improve competitiveness by reducing airport charges to pre-Covid levels and introducing a traffic recovery support scheme to stimulate traffic, tourism, investment, and jobs.

Finland should follow the lead taken by Sweden to lower access costs to attract airline seat capacity.

To celebrate our Winter 2025 schedule in Finland, Ryanair has launched a 3-day seat sale with fares from just €29.99, available now at ryanair.com.”
