Ryanair Calls On Minister Ryan To Follow The UK’s Science

Confirm Vaccinated Families With Kids (U18) Can Travel Without Quarantine From 19 July

Ryanair, Europe’s largest airline, today (9 July) called on Transport Minister Eamon Ryan to immediately follow the UK Govt’s decision to allow both vaccinated citizens and their U18 kids to travel freely from 19 July without quarantine restrictions.

The UK Govt’s decision has given UK families a much-needed summer holiday boost and Minister Ryan (and NPHET) should now follow the UK science which shows that vaccines are highly effective at preventing serious illness / fatalities and have broken the link between rising Covid case no’s and hospitalisations. With little Covid risk to children U18, they should be allowed to travel freely to/from the EU with their families this summer from 19 July.

A Ryanair spokesperson said:

“The UK and other EU countries continue to open up and remove travel restrictions, yet Minister Ryan and NPHET continue to dither and mismanage Ireland’s reopening. With less than 60 Covid cases in hospital and less than 17 in ICU’s there is no justification for keeping Irish families locked up despite very low Covid hospitalisations and ICU numbers in Ireland.

Ryanair calls on Minister Ryan to follow the UK science, apply the same rules in Ireland and remove the need for vaccinated families and their U18 children to quarantine upon return from EU holiday hotspots, which will give Irish families a much-needed certainty and a late summer holiday in July, Aug & Sept”.
