RYANAIR CELEBRATES 2 MILLION PAX ON ITS PESCARA-LONDON STANSTED ROUTE

Ryanair, Europe and Italy’s no. 1 airline, today (12 May) celebrated 2 million passengers on its popular Pescara-London Stansted routes. Ryanair’s journey with Abruzzo Airport first began in 2011. Since then, the airline has grown significantly, adding domestic and international routes, and driving traffic, jobs and tourism growth, thanks also to the forward-thinking decision of the Abruzzo region to scrap the municipal tax, which enabled Ryanair to further increase its capacity and unlock the full tourism potential of the region.

Ryanair has invested substantially in Pescara, including one additional based aircraft (+$100m investment) for Summer 2025. Pescara-London Stansted route is just 1 of the 19 total routes Ryanair is operating this Summer in the Abruzzo Airport – including the 5 brand-new routes from/to Cagliari, Kaunas, Milan Malpensa, Valencia, and Wroclaw – with 30% traffic growth and supporting over 950 local jobs.

Ryanair’s Pescara Summer ‘25 schedule delivers:

  • 1 extra based aircraft (2 tot. – $200m tot. invest.)
  • 19 routes, incl. 5 new routes – Cagliari, Milan Malpensa, Kaunas, Valencia, Wroclaw
  • Over 160 weekly flights, including daily flights to Turin & double daily to Milan Malpensa
  • Over 1m passengers p.a. (+30% growth)
  • Supporting over 950 tot. jobs

To celebrate 2 million passengers on its Pescara-London Stansted route, Ryanair has launched a seat sale with fares starting at just €21.99 for travel until the end of June, available to book now at ryanair.com (subject to availability).

From Pescara, Fabrizio Francioni, Ryanair’s Head of Communications Italy, said:

Ryanair is delighted to celebrate 2 million passengers on the popular Pescara-London Stansted route. This significant milestone resounds Ryanair’s continued growth and investment at Abruzzo Airport. This Summer, Ryanair is operating a robust schedule to/from Pescara with over 160 weekly flights across 19 routes, including the brand-new routes to Cagliari, Milan Malpensa, Kaunas, Valencia, Wroclaw. This new schedule is underpinned by Ryanair’s commitment to Abruzzo Airport, basing 1 extra based aircraft – 2 tot. $200m tot. investment – and supporting over 950 jobs. Ryanair is, therefore pleased to offer to Maria Prato, London resident, back with her husband from a weekend holiday in Abruzzo, the 2millionth passenger on Pescara-London Stansted route, a 50€ gift card to travel to any destination, inviting her to sit back, relax and enjoy flights with Ryanair. We look forward to carrying more and more passengers on Ryanair’s low-fare flights to/from Abruzzo Airport in the years ahead”.

Jessica Coccia, SAGA (Abruzzo Airport) board member, said:

“More than 20 years ago tightened the link between Abruzzo Airport and Ryanair, precisely through the connection with London Stansted. Today we celebrate not only the 2 millionth passenger who has chosen to take advantage of this destination, but a relationship that increasingly close and synergic with a company that has decided to bet even more on our infrastructure. The passenger who received the gift card has just experienced a weekend holiday in Abruzzo, demonstrating that the destinations connected with the airport attract foreign travellers who discover the many beauties of our region, stimulating the entire induced activity related to tourism. Summer 2025, with five new destinations, has just begun, but we are already reaping the benefits of a collaboration that will allow us to develop Abruzzo Airport more and more, producing positive effects on the entire regional economy”
