RYANAIR MARKS 20 YEARS OF OPERATIONS IN CROATIA

AS THE AIRLINE CARRIES 2 MILLIONTH PASSENGER THROUGH ITS DUBROVNIK BASE

Ryanair, Europe’s No.1 airline, today (Thu, 15 Oct) announced that it has carried over 2 million passengers through its Dubrovnik base since commencing operations to/from the airport in 2019. This significant milestone comes as Ryanair marks 20 years of operations in Croatia.

Ryanair first began operations to/from Croatia back in 2006, with the launch of its Pula to London Stansted route. Since then, Ryanair has transformed Croatia’s air travel market by introducing low-fare competition to longstanding national flag carrier – Croatia Airlines, single-handedly driving post-pandemic traffic recovery, and delivering low-cost, high-frequency connectivity to both the capital and coastal hubs.

Ryanair now operates out of 7 airports across Croatia connecting more than 20 countries, offering Croatian citizens/visitors with unbeatable choice at the lowest fares, whilst driving year-round inbound tourism at the same time. The airline has invested over $900 million in Croatia, establishing major aircraft bases at Zagreb Airport, Zadar Airport, and Dubrovnik Airport, while also serving regional airports including Osijek, Pula, Rijeka, and Split. Ryanair is now the largest airline in Croatia with its operations supporting over 3,500 local jobs across the country, including over 270 high-paid, high-skill pilot and cabin crew jobs.

This Winter, Ryanair is operating over 170 weekly flights across 21 routes to/from Croatia, including a new route from Zagreb to Warsaw, connecting Croatia with key tourism markets across Europe, including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland.

To celebrate Ryanair’s 20 years of operations to/from Croatia, and its 2 millionth passenger through Dubrovnik Airport, the airline has launched a limited time seat sale with fares from just €29.99 available to book now via the Ryanair app.

Ryanair’s Director of Communications, Jade Kirwan, said:

“It’s been 20 years since Ryanair launched its first Croatian route from Pula to London Stansted, and today we’re proud to celebrate two major milestones: 20 years of transforming air travel in Croatia and our 2 millionth passenger through our Dubrovnik base. Over the past two decades, Ryanair has delivered over $900m investment, low fares, unbeatable choice, and year-round connectivity that has helped grow tourism, create thousands of local jobs, and support Croatia’s economic development. As Croatia’s largest airline, we’re committed to continuing that growth, with over 170 weekly flights this winter and even more opportunities for visitors and citizens to travel at Europe’s lowest fares. To mark the occasion, we’ve launched a limited-time seat sale with fares from just €29.99, available to book now on the Ryanair app.”

Dubrovnik Airport CEO, Viktor Šober, said:

“We are pleased to celebrate the milestone of 2 million passengers carried by Ryanair through Dubrovnik Airport. Ryanair is an important partner in strengthening Dubrovnik’s air connectivity and enhancing the destination’s accessibility across European markets. We look forward to continuing our successful cooperation and further expanding Dubrovnik’s connections with destinations across Europe.”
