Ryanair, Europe’s No.1 airline, today (24th March) announced its biggest ever Malta schedule, with six total based aircraft for Summer 2022 ($600m investment), 2 of which will be Boeing 737 8-200 “Gamechanger” aircraft which deliver 4% more seats, burn 16% less fuel and create 40% less noise emissions. Ryanair’s investment of over $600m in Malta will support 180 highly paid aviation jobs and over 2,300 indirect jobs in the local area and drive vital tourism traffic to Malta after two lost Summers.

Ryanair’s biggest ever Malta Summer Schedule will deliver:

  • 6 based aircraft – 2 of which will be Boeing 737 8-200 Gamechanger aircraft
  • $600m investment in Malta
  • 62 routes in total including 9 new Summer routes to Bordeaux, Bucharest, Lourdes, Milan Malpensa, Parma, Shannon, Tel Aviv, Warsaw, and Zagreb
  • Over 190 weekly flights
  • Over 2,500 total jobs

Ryanair will operate over 190 weekly flights for Summer 2022 (60 more than pre pandemic Summer 2019) to give our Malta holiday makers an abundance of choice to top European destinations in Italy, Spain and France, whilst also giving Maltese tourism a much-needed boost.

Maltese customers and visitors can now book a well-deserved Summer getaway at the lowest fares from just €19,99 one way for travel until October 2022, only available on the Ryanair.com website.

Ryanair’s Malta Air CEO & Lauda Europe CEO, David O’Brien said:

“As both Europe and Malta’s biggest airline, Ryanair is delighted to announce our record-breaking Malta schedule operated by six based Malta aircraft ($600m total investment), 2 of which will be Boeing 737 8-200 Gamechanger aircraft. This green fleet will deliver 62 routes in total, including 9 new Summer routes to exciting destinations such as Barcelona, Milan, and Vienna.

We look forward to continuing to grow our current 6 aircraft base at Malta over the coming years and adding to the 62 direct Malta routes now served by the Ryanair Group, and as a result, improving services for those that live, work, or wish to visit Malta.

To allow our customers and visitors to/from Malta to book their Summer getaway at the lowest fares, we are launching a 3-day seat sale with fares available from just €19,99 one way for travel until October 2022, which must be booked by Saturday the 26th of March. Since these super low fares will be snapped up quickly, customers should log onto www.ryanair.com to avoid missing out.”

Director General for Civil Aviation at Transport Malta CAD, Charles Pace said:

“It is noted with great satisfaction the growth in activity and increased capacity of the group in and out of Malta. As an island state connectivity is extremely important for us and we hope to see more routes and more seats available. The establishment of Malta Air was a milestone for Malta and CAD, and the level of collaboration has been optimal. I would like to take this opportunity to thank David and his team for their constant dialogue and cooperation.”
