RYANAIR DELIVERS RECORD MILAN WINTER 2026 SCHEDULEWITH TWO ADDITIONAL BERGAMO-BASED AIRCRAFT

33 AIRCRAFT ($3.3BN INVESTMENT), 125 ROUTES (10 NEW) AND 8.7M WINTER SEATS (+11%)

Ryanair, Europe and Italy’s No.1 airline, today (Thu, 1 Oct) announced its Winter 2026 schedule for Milan, delivering growth to 21 million annual passengers and offering 8.7 million winter (+11%) seats across its Bergamo and Malpensa operations. Led by strong growth at Malpensa, where Ryanair is adding over 640,000 seats (+27%) this Winter, the airline will provide customers across the Lombardy region with unbeatable low-fare connectivity on 125 routes, including 10 new Winter routes (6 from Malpensa and 4 from Bergamo).

This strong growth is supported by the addition of 2 new Bergamo-based aircraft, representing an incremental $200m investment. Ryanair’s Milan-based fleet will grow to 33 aircraft ($3.3bn total investment). Ryanair’s expanded Milan operation will continue to drive year-round traffic and tourism while supporting over 16,200 local jobs across the Lombardy region.

Ryanair continues to invest and grow in Italy, delivering significant traffic, jobs and economic growth while offering lower fares than any other airline. However, Italy’s regressive Municipal Tax, which at Bergamo and Malpensa can reach up to €7 per passenger following the recent €0.50c increase on non-EU flights at Italy’s biggest airports, continues to undermine Italy’s competitiveness and constrain Milan’s future growth. This comes at a time when Italian regions including Abruzzo, Calabria, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Sicily and Emilia-Romagna are abolishing the Municipal Tax and reducing aviation access costs to attract airline investment, stimulate traffic growth, and create tourism and jobs.

Ryanair calls on the Italian Government to follow the lead of these proactive Italian Regions and scrap the Municipal Tax at all Italian airports. If removed, Ryanair will respond with significant growth for Italy, including an additional 40 aircraft ($4bn invest.), 20m passengers p.a., 250 new routes, and another 15.000 jobs throughout Italy.

To celebrate Ryanair’s Milan Record Winter 2026 schedule, the airline has launched a limited-time seat sale with fares from just €29.99 available now via the Ryanair App/website.

Ryanair CEO, Eddie Wilson, said:

“Ryanair is pleased to launch our largest-ever Winter 2026 schedule for Milan, which will see us grow to 21 million annual passengers across Bergamo and Malpensa, supported by 33 based aircraft, a $3.3 billion investment and over 16,200 local jobs. With 125 routes, including 10 new Winter services – Liverpool, Paphos, Rabat, Reggio Calabria, Agadir, Crotone, Edinburgh, Gdansk, Funchal, Tirana -, Ryanair continues to strengthen Milan’s connectivity while delivering the lowest fares and greater choice for residents, businesses and visitors across Lombardy.”

“This Winter’s growth is led by Malpensa, where Ryanair is increasing capacity by +27%, adding more than 640,000 seats and launching 6 new routes. Ryanair is also investing a further $200 million in Lombardy through the addition of 2 new Bergamo-based aircraft, bringing our Milan-based fleet to 33 aircraft worth $3.3 billion. These investments demonstrate Ryanair’s long-term commitment to Lombardy and will continue to drive traffic, tourism and economic growth across the region.”

“While Ryanair continues to invest and grow in Milan, Italy’s Municipal Tax, including the recent increase on non-EU passengers at major airports such as Bergamo and Malpensa, continues to undermine Italy’s competitiveness. Ryanair once again calls on the Italian Government to abolish this regressive tax and unlock further investment, including an additional 40 aircraft, 20 million more passengers annually, 250 new routes and 15,000 additional jobs across Italy.
