RYANAIR’S JUNE OTA PIRATE SURVEY SHOWS EDREAMS “PRIME” OVERCHARGES USERS BY +38%

EDREAMS STILL DUPE ITS “PRIME” CUSTOMERS WITH FAKE DISCOUNTS THAT ARE STILL MORE EXPENSIVE THAN BOOKING AIRLINES DIRECT

Ryanair today (11 June) issued its June OTA Pirate Survey which shows that eDreams continues to dupe and overcharge its unsuspecting members with its eDreams Prime subscription scam, overcharging +38% (€44) for an Easyjet flight that cost just €31.99 direct with the airline. Similarly, eDreams falsely advertised inflated fares of €60 for a Wizz Air flight and charged eDreams Prime members a supposedly “discounted” fare of €38 despite the same flight on Wizz Air’s website costing just €31.99. Ryanair notes that eDreams is not selling Ryanair fares in June but is still overcharging for other airline flights.

This proves that eDreams “Prime” subscription is just another eDreams scam, misleading consumers into paying a yearly “Prime” subscription on the false promise of “discounts on 100% of your flights”, while using hidden mark-ups to create fictitious “discounts” to mask the fact that they are overcharging customers for air fares as confirmed by Ryanair June OTA Pirate survey;

Ryanair continues to call for consumer protection from overcharging OTA Pirates, like eDreams. In Apr, Ryanair submitted a complaint to the Spanish Consumer Affairs Minister (Pablo Bustinduy) calling on him to outlaw eDreams’ “Prime” scam and force the OTA Pirates into transparent pricing, just like Ryanair’s “Approved OTA” partners now provide.

Ryanair’s Dara Brady said:

“It’s no surprise that eDreams has yet again been exposed as our June OTA Pirate of the month, overcharging even its “Prime” consumers up to 38% for flights. It is shocking that consumers are being duped into believing that they are getting discounted prices when they sign up for eDreams’ “Prime” subscription (at a cost of €64.99), when in reality, eDreams is still inflating airlines’ fares to almost double the real price and offering fake Prime “discounts” which still result in higher fares than booking directly with airlines.

This is a consumer rip-off, and it is unacceptable that EU Govts and consumer authorities are sitting idly by, while EU consumers are being ripped-off repeatedly by this eDreams “Prime” scam. Ryanair again calls on EU Govts and consumer authorities to outlaw eDreams Prime and protect EU consumers from these blatant anti-consumer OTA Pirate scams.”
