RYANAIR WELCOMES DISRUPTIVE PASSENGER CONVICTION BY UK COURT
08 Apr 2026
REAFFIRMING RYANAIR’S ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY ON PASSENGER MISCONDUCT
Ryanair, Europe’s No.1 airline, today (Wed, 8 Apr) welcomed the decision by the Bristol Crown Court to convict an unruly passenger who disrupted flight FR5518 from Krakow to Bristol on 11 November 2025 by consuming duty free alcohol, verbally abusing passengers and failing to comply with crew instructions. This disruptive passenger pleaded guilty and received a 10-month prison sentence.
Ryanair is committed to ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a comfortable and stress-free environment free of unnecessary disruption caused by a tiny number of unruly passengers. Ryanair has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take action to combat unruly passenger behaviour on aircraft for the benefit of the vast majority of passengers who do not disrupt flights.
Ryanair’s Jade Kirwan, said:
“We welcome the Bristol Crown Court’s conviction of this unruly passenger whose inexcusable behaviour disrupted a flight from Krakow to Bristol in November 2025. This demonstrates just one of the many consequences (including travel bans and offload fines) that passengers who disrupt flights will face as part of Ryanair’s zero tolerance policy. We hope this conviction will further deter disruptive behaviour on flights so that both passengers and crew can travel in a comfortable and stress-free environment.”
RYANAIR Z ZADOWOLENIEM PRZYJMUJE WYROK BRYTYJSKIEGO SĄDU W SPRAWIE PASAŻERA, KTÓRY ZAKŁÓCIŁ LOT
08 Apr 2026
Head of Comms CEE&Baltics w Ryanair Alicja Wójcik-Gołębiowska powiedziała:
„Z zadowoleniem przyjmujemy wyrok wydany przez Sąd Koronny w Bristolu wobec agresywnego pasażera, którego niewybaczalne zachowanie zakłóciło lot z Krakowa do Bristolu w listopadzie 2025 roku.

RYANAIR CALLS ON PRIME MINISTER DE WEVER TO SCRAP BELGIUM’S FIVE-FOLD AVIATION TAX INCREASE NOW (NOT “REASSESS” IN JULY) TO PREVENT LOSS OF 2 MILLION SEATS, TOURISM AND JOBS IN W26/S27
02 Apr 2026
Ryanair, Europe’s No. 1 airline, today (Fri, 27 Mar) called on Prime Minister De Wever to scrap the Belgium Govt’s five-fold federal aviation tax increase NOW, rather than “reassessing” it in July, when airlines’ Winter 26/Summer 27 schedules will already have been set and Belgian traffic, tourism and jobs will be already lost.
While Ryanair welcomes Prime Minister De Wever’s realisation that excessively taxing air traffic is not the way to grow tourism and jobs – but instead sends traffic to other lower cost, zero-tax, competitor destinations elsewhere in Europe, like Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia, regional Italy, or Albania, where Govts are abolishing aviation taxes to grow traffic, tourism and jobs. Delaying the “reassessment” of this damaging tax until the middle of the busy summer season, when airlines have already finalised their Winter 26/Summer 27 schedules, makes no sense and will not mitigate the loss of Belgian traffic, tourism and jobs. That decision will be made in advance of July.
If Prime Minister De Wever does not wish to be responsible for the loss of over 2 million seats and thousands of jobs at Charleroi Airport from October next, then he should push now to immediately scrap Belgium’s aviation tax altogether – as Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia, Italy and Albania have done.
Ryanair CEO, Eddie Wilson, said:
“Ryanair calls on Prime Minister De Wever to stop wasting time “reassessing” Belgium’s five-fold aviation tax increase by July, and instead scrap this harmful aviation tax NOW. July is too late – airlines will have already set their Winter 26 / Summer 27 schedules. If Prime Minister De Wever really wants to prevent Belgium from haemorrhaging traffic, tourism and jobs then he should scrap the tax NOW, without any further delay.”

Ryanair today (Thurs, 2 Apr) released its Mar 2026 traffic stats as follows:
RYANAIR LAUNCHES RECORD UK S’26 SCHEDULE1 NEW AIRCRAFT AND 5 NEW ROUTES TO/FROM LONDONRACHEL REEVES APD HIKE WILL HARM UK REGIONS & COST JOBS
01 Apr 2026
Ryanair, the UK’s No. 1 passenger airline, this week (Wed, 1 Apr) launched its Summer 2026 schedule for London, operating 194 routes including 5 new routes from Luton to Wroclaw, and from Stansted to Forli, Glasgow, Malmö and Parma. Ryanair has also added extra frequencies on 50+ other routes including Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Lisbon, Madrid, Malaga and Malta. To support this modest traffic growth, Ryanair will base 1 new aircraft at London Stansted for S26 – bringing Ryanair’s total London-based fleet to 57 aircraft (a $6bn investment) and creating 30 new, highly paid, jobs for pilots, cabin crew and engineers.
Ryanair continues to modestly grow its traffic in London, and across the UK. With expected traffic of 61m passengers in 2026, Ryanair is the UK’s biggest passenger airline, carrying almost double BA’s traffic to/from the UK. However, from today (1 Apr), Rachel Reeves’ harmful decision to increase the UK’s damaging APD tax will make the UK, especially its regional airports, even less competitive versus EU markets such as Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia and regional Italy, where Govts are abolishing aviation/enviro taxes and lowering access costs to drive traffic, tourism and jobs growth.
Ryanair has submitted plans to the Starmer Govt to grow UK traffic by 33% to 80m passengers over the next 5 years, but this growth will only be delivered if the Govt reverses this APD hike and abolishes this damaging tax, which is now the highest aviation tax in Europe. As usual, with Rachel Reeves we have received no response to our growth offer.
Ryanair’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, said:
“Ryanair continues to invest in modest growth in the UK and we are now the UK’s No. 1 passenger airline, with 61m passengers in 2026. Today we open 5 new London routes for Summer 2026, with frequency increases and 1 extra aircraft in Stansted, a further $100m investment in London. Rachel Reeves talks a lot about growth but hasn’t a clue how to deliver it.
While Ryanair is growing modestly in London, many UK regional airports are being hammered by Rachel Reeves’ stupid decision to increase APD from today. This APD hike makes UK air travel even less competitive versus countries like Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia and regional Italy, where Govts are abolishing enviro taxes and being rewarded with rapid traffic, tourism and jobs growth.
If Rachel Reeves is serious about growth, she should stop talking, and start delivering it by scrapping APD. Ryanair has proposals on the table to grow UK traffic by 33% to 80m passengers over the next 5 years, but this growth won’t happen while the UK maintains Europe’s highest and most harmful aviation tax rates. Instead of hammering yet more taxes onto UK citizens and regional airports, she should follow the example of Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia and regional Italy, and scrap these harmful enviro taxes to win back traffic, tourism and jobs that the UK is now losing to lower cost competitors in Europe.
We again call on the UK Govt to urgently reform the UK’s broken NATS ATC service. It continues to stagger from failure to failure under Martin Rolfe’s mismanagement. Heidi Alexander’s claims that ‘she can’t dismiss him’ are false. The UK Govt owns 49% of NATS and has the power to change its CEO. Nothing will improve in NATS while it is run by failed, overpaid bureaucrats like Martin Rolfe. Sack him and appoint someone competent to run UK ATC – that is how to deliver a better, on-time ATC service for all passengers travelling to/from the UK this Summer.”
